As of Monday, Feb 2nd 2026, we're still here.

500ish words from Greg Iwinski

I am, as I type, watching the Grammys. And I have to say, as a token coastal lib, I am bummed at BlueSky’s lack of communal-message-avalanching as we all watch the same thing. (The token lib part being, of course, complaining about BlueSky.)

Also, thank you for the well wishes about being sick, NO ONE. Rude! I’ll remember this when you’re sick!

But I love watching the Grammys. It is, with the Tonys, the “let’s show what we can do” half of the EGOT shows.1 It is one of the live televised events that makes me yell “I LOVE ART!” from my couch.2

It is very easy to stop listening to new music as someone over 30. You know what you liked, it’s right there on your phone, you build your playlists and you never look back. But — if you can figure out which ones are real humans and which are AI play-count traps — you really should go listen to new music. Because at the end of the day, music is still about all the same things: I’m happy / I’m sad / I love you / You don’t love me / The world is good / the world is bad/ I would like to know which person is responsible for letting the dogs out.
